The NYC Department of Records & Information Services (DORIS)  held Lunch & Learn, The Birth of New York City’s Municipal Government, a virtually on on the collections of the Municipal Archives and Library, as well as the history of New York City. FridayFebruary 2nd.

On February 2, 1653, the States General in the Hague and the Dutch West India Company issued a charter officially establishing a government structure like those existing in the Netherlands. On February 2, 2024, join historians and archivists to learn about New Amsterdam, the colonial records at the New York City Municipal Archives, and connect with a celebration of Lower Manhattan.
