Founded in 2005, NAHC provides detailed information of the Dutch period of Manhattan and New Netherland from its beginnings as a small, yet multicultural, European trading station. New Amsterdam laid the foundation of a commercial trading center consisting of a diverse and adaptable society which influenced and guided its growth to what New York City is today. We believe that understanding our roots strengthens and nourishes New York and gives those of us who live and love here a deep sense of pride.
